Financial Literacy Workshop for Students in Singapore

Does your student know what their relationship with money really looks like?

Most young people in Singapore have never had a real conversation about money — not about budgeting, not about debt, and certainly not about whether their current habits will allow them to retire comfortably one day.

Students looking happy

At Leaven Academy, we don't teach financial literacy through slides and lectures. We design immersive, game-based workshops where students discover their own money habits, beliefs and blind spots — through experience, not instruction.

The result is not just knowledge. It's self-awareness. And that's where real financial behaviour change begins.

Learning That Looks Like Play — But Isn't

Our financial literacy workshops are built on Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle — meaning students learn by doing, reflecting, and connecting their experiences to real-world money concepts.

Activities are deliberately designed to not look like money lessons at first. Students are put through game-like situations that reveal their personal money scripts — the deeply held beliefs and habits about resources that drive real financial decisions. Only after the experience do they see the consequences of their choices, and that moment of self-realisation becomes the foundation for genuine learning.

One of our signature activities is a retirement board game, called “Can You Retire”. Based on their own money habits and decisions throughout the game, students discover whether their current approach to working and saving will allow them to retire comfortably — or whether something needs to change. It is one of the most eye-opening moments we create in any of our programmes.

What Students Walk Away With

Every workshop is customised to your school's student profile and level. Across our programmes, students explore:

  • Needs vs wants — understanding the difference between what we need and what we're conditioned to desire

  • Budgeting and saving — practical frameworks for managing money at a student's stage of life

  • Money habits and personal money scripts — identifying the beliefs about money formed in childhood that drive adult financial behaviour

  • Credit and debt awareness — understanding how debt works, and the real cost of borrowing

  • Singapore-specific financial realities — including CPF, HDB, and the financial milestones that Singaporean youth will face as adults, grounded in lived local experience

Students learning through play

Designed for Every Level of Singapore's Education System

Our financial literacy workshops are designed and delivered for:

  • Primary schools: age-appropriate introduction to money concepts through play and storytelling

  • Secondary schools: deeper exploration of money habits, budgeting, and real-world financial decisions

  • Junior colleges: preparing students for financial independence as they approach adulthood

  • ITE and polytechnics: practical financial literacy grounded in the realities of entering the workforce

Every programme is fully customised to your school's context, cohort size, and learning objectives. We do not deliver off-the-shelf content.

Flexible Formats to Fit Your School's Needs

We work around your school's schedule and objectives. Our financial literacy programmes are available as:

  • Half-day workshops (3–4 hours): ideal for a single cohort or level

  • Multi-session programmes (e.g. 3 x 2-hour sessions): for deeper learning across a semester

  • Fully customised formats: we will work with you to design a programme that fits your school's calendar and goals

All sessions are facilitated by experienced Leaven Academy trainers and use in-house designed activities and games.

What Schools Say

"The programme was suitable for the students as it was engaging and pitched to the level of understanding that they were at, but able to use their lived experiences through the games to teach them certain money lessons they didn't know they needed."
